It is made from a cell line that initially came from hamster ovaries. They culture the cell line, and they don’t need hamsters anymore.

Avonex is interferon beta-1a, indentical to the interferon made in the human body naturally. It is not hamster interferon. What they do is expose the cells to human interferon genes, and the cells will start making human interferon. It is a lot more complicated than that, but that is the basic idea.

This is straight out of the labeling for Avonex: “AVONEX® (Interferon beta-1a) is a 166 amino acid glycoprotein with a predicted molecular weight of approximately 22,500 daltons. It is produced by recombinant DNA technology using genetically engineered Chinese Hamster Ovary cells into which the human interferon beta gene has been introduced. It does burn a bit. I wouldn’t say it hurts a lot. But it is a shot. If you have at least some fat (you need to be able to pinch about an inch or so) on your stomach then you will be fine. If you stomach is very flat then try you love handle area. If that is still too thin then call your doctor. They might suggest another area.

What happens if i stop taking crestor after 23 days ,since then i start having pain in the upper arms?

call your doc and he/she can order some blood work to check certain enzyme levels to see if this med is having one of the rare side effects..when i started on lipitor about a month later i started having muscle aches and wasnt sure if it was the meds or the aerobics class i had started…had blood work and it was not the med…don’t just stop the med,call the doc and be advised by them

Were you prescribed the liquid codeine by a doctor who also knows about or also prescribes the Lamictal? I personally do not think that it would hurt you, as I used to take Lamictal myself, and the codeine will not interact with it , as I have taken codeine and Lamictal at the same time before prescribed by the same doctor. It is always best to check with a doctor first though, because each person reacts to medicines differently.

Yes it can make you feel nauseous, give you mood swings, breast tenderness, headaches and cramps plus other side effects. Because its a low dose hormone pill the side effects are generally fewer for most people and its harder to know if side effects are caused by the pill or something else. If you have only been feeling this way since starting the pill I would contact your doctor that prescribed it and discuss it with them, you may need a different form of birth control.
